Winston A. Benons Jr. is an interdisciplinary artist, cultural strategist, educator, and scholar whose work explores embodiment, memory, abstraction, and the cultural narratives embedded within performance and visual culture across the African Diaspora.

Working at the intersection of dance, visual culture, anthropology, and public scholarship, his practice investigates how movement, rhythm, ritual, and affect function as living archives of historical and contemporary experience. Through performance, cultural research, digital collage, lectures, and curatorial inquiry, he examines the ways embodied knowledge shapes identity, memory, and social meaning.

As the founder of tRúe Culture & Arts and creator of The Culturalist, Benons develops interdisciplinary projects that engage Blackness, temporality, aesthetics, and communal ritual through artistic and cultural discourse.

His work has been presented and facilitated with institutions including the University of Chicago, Rutgers University, Lincoln Center Education, Jacob’s Pillow, BAM, and the Smart Museum of Art.

Through choreography, visual abstraction, writing, and public engagement, his work considers how culture is carried through the body and continually reimagined through artistic practice.
